PODERÍO — Virginia Riezu

Auditorium Palma — Sala Mozart, Av. Gabriel Roca, 18, 07014 Palma, Illes Balears

Virginia Riezu returns to the stage with Poderío, a show with the name of a copla song and a political and emotional undercurrent.

Folkloric performers knew how to occupy centre stage, command a presence and never apologise. This show does too.

Poderío is a monologue about all the times we have been taken for fools, and about the power that emerges when we stop apologising for being who we are.

After years of pointing out the external judgement directed at female comedians, Virginia turns her gaze inward: towards heightened sensitivity, life experience, properly understood bad temper and an un-sweetened emotional intelligence.

It talks about relationships, age, appearance pressure, Ozempic, motherhood and non-motherhood, fertility clinics, egg donation, housing, cystitis, menstrual cups and crying at yoghurt adverts…

All through humour, without solemnity or moralising.

Because sensitivity is not weakness.

And because laughing together is also a form of power.
