Rebeca Morey - Anatoformes

Temporary exhibition - New Talents 1

As part of the Nit de l’Art, we present the first solo exhibition by artist Rebeca Morey Pérez (Palma, 2004), who recently graduated from the first cycle at ADEMA Bellas Artes with an excellence award. This provides an opportunity to show her work from a personal, individual perspective. The project arises from the convergence of ADEMA Bellas Artes and Casal Solleric as part of its New Talents 1 programme.

The body of work in this exhibition moves between the materiality of forms and the tension between creation and display. At first glance, we discover how the body becomes the trigger for the action that unfolds during the creative process, when the material demands an effort to achieve the form of things, of the work.

Anatoformes is a discovery of the anatomy and forms of things and objects: visceral and intuitive, manual and syncretic. Rebeca Morey needs malleable material, vulnerable to the friction of the body and the hands. In this way, she finds the forms, many of them symbiotic with the body, both internal and external. Through this constant effort, she finds meaning in her work. It is a work of evident maturity, not because of the artist’s artistic trajectory, but because of her drive to find meaning in creation and define her own perspective.
