Orlando furioso — By Antonio Vivaldi, in the 41st Opera Season

Teatre Principal — Sala Gran, Carrer de la Riera, 2, 07003 Palma, Balearic Islands

Baroque opera returns to the Principal with one of Antonio Vivaldi’s landmark works.

Although it is rarely performed nowadays, Orlando furioso has rightfully earned a place of honour in the baroque opera canon. This year marks 300 years since the premiere of this work by Antonio Vivaldi, which combines arias with recitatives and is based on Ariosto’s epic poem of the same name.
