Madama Butterfly — By Giacomo Puccini, part of the 41st Opera Season

- Palma

Teatre Principal — Sala Gran, Carrer de la Riera, 2, 07003 Palma, Illes Balears

This Puccini opera is one of the great symbols of impossible love, the eternal feminine and intercultural barriers.

The Italian composer wrote a masterful score (with celebrated arias such as Un bel dì vedremo), highlighting the emotional labyrinth in which the characters find themselves trapped.

Giacomo Puccini premiered this work in 1904, with a libretto by Giuseppe Giacosa and Luigi Illica. As the opera was not well received by the public, Puccini withdrew it, revised it and premiered it again a few months later, achieving greater acceptance.
