This production comes with a moving staging by Mario Gas, at times poetic and, above all, deeply theatrical and well documented, delving into a story of smuggling and love in a seafaring village.

La tabernera del puerto, a three-act seafaring romance by Pablo Sorozábal, is a masterpiece of zarzuela. It premiered at Barcelona’s Teatro Tívoli in May 1936 —during the turbulent times preceding the Civil War— and in Madrid in March 1940 —once the conflict had ended— at the Teatro de la Zarzuela.
