Il giardino di Rigoletto — By G. Verdi, part of the 41st Opera Season

A performance introducing opera to babies aged between 6 and 36 months, freely inspired by Giuseppe Verdi’s «Rigoletto».

This production, featuring an actor and a musician, reminds us that sometimes truly loving someone means giving them room to grow. The protagonist, Rigoletto, has a secret garden where he spends most of his time. It is there, on a stormy night, that he finds a small, mysterious seed someone has accidentally left behind.

Curious, Rigoletto decides to plant it and, very soon, a tiny shoot appears and quickly begins to grow. He waters it, protects it from the cold and cleans it, but soon feels that this is not enough. Rigoletto is not quite sure what to do, so he starts cooking for it, reading it fairy tales and stories, and trying to dress it and make it play, laugh and have fun. He takes such good care of it that he even puts perfume on it and bandages its wounds. Even so, when he realises that someone wants to take his plant away, he starts building a fence so that no one can get near it. But even this does not seem to be enough for him.
