The Farmer with the Most Air — By Miguel Hernández, presented by Sa Boira
- Palma

Teatre Principal — Sala Gran, Carrer de la Riera, 2, 07003 Palma, Balearic Islands
Sa Boira’s 66th production brings us into the committed and critical world of Miguel Hernández.
After seeing Pep Tosar’s fantastic work in the play Vientos del pueblo, based on the life and work of Miguel Hernández, Sa Boira has decided to delve into the world of the poet and playwright.
The Farmer with the Most Air, a work connected to that of another great author such as Federico GarcĂa Lorca, was published in 1937 and forms part of the social theatre in Hernández’s work. It reflects the author’s concern about the social problems of his time, especially during the Spanish Civil War.
Through the story of a farmer facing adversity and poverty, Hernández denounces the population’s living conditions and criticises the violence and injustice of the era. The play uses a mixed structure combining dramatic and lyrical elements, and is considered a powerful critique of fascism published before his imprisonment.
