Teatralitats. A Visit to the House of Dreams

Teatre Principal d'Inca — El Teatro, Carrer del Teatre, 10, 07300 Inca, Balearic Islands

Site-specific performance

To mark the 5th anniversary of the Teatre Principal d'Inca, Teatralitats presents a 40-minute itinerant performance through different spaces in the theatre, for small groups of 30 spectators.

It begins as a fake guided tour: the person meant to lead it does not show up and, while the audience waits, a theatre maintenance worker —played by Rodo Gener— decides to improvise the tour himself.

But as the group moves through the building, the theatre begins to appear where it is not supposed to. Behind one door, a company rehearses Macbeth and an actress goes into crisis over her character; an opera singer appears and disappears in the corridors; in the playwrights’ room, an author writes obsessively until it seems smoke is coming out of his head... Small theatrical pieces and situations erupt during the tour, and our improvised guide tries to manage them as best he can.

A journey full of humour and tenderness through the world of the performing arts, and a tribute to everyone who makes their magic possible.

Teatralitats wants to celebrate these five years not by telling the story of the theatre, but by making visible everything that can inhabit it: actors, musicians, words, characters, technicians, creators, fictions and audiences. A tour of a real building that, for a while, becomes the House of Dreams.
