Work–Life Balance and Shared Responsibility

Nowadays, figures show that household and childcare tasks continue to fall mainly, and almost exclusively, on women. This negatively affects not only their professional lives, but also their health and the well-being of the family as a whole. The aim is to raise awareness of the importance of an appropriate work–life balance and shared responsibility for household and childcare tasks.

First, we will look at how gender roles influence greater or lesser involvement in household tasks, focusing on how the type of family structure does (or does not) support work–life balance and an equitable distribution of tasks. Finally, we will highlight the role played by older members of the household in work–life balance and well-being.

The second part of the training will focus on developing task-sharing strategies that meet the needs of all family members. It will also present forms of communication and negotiation that help prevent conflicts. Finally, different ways of gradually involving younger children in household tasks will be explained.
