Fifty years later, the memory of a historic concert
The concert Llach – Gener 76, a Festival Barnasants production, revisits the repertoire of the historic concerts Lluís Llach gave in January 1976 at Barcelona’s Palau dels Esports, which led to the album Barcelona. Gener de 1976. Half a century later, this production recaptures that spirit with the utmost respect for the original material, becoming a tribute to one of the most significant moments in Catalan song.
Lluís Llach does not take part in this show. The concert is a contemporary reinterpretation of his historic repertoire and a tribute to those performances, not an appearance by the singer-songwriter.
To ensure the greatest musical fidelity, musical direction is provided by Manel Camp, the author of the original arrangements for the 1976 concerts. His presence creates a direct link with the sound of that period and makes it possible to recover its essence from a contemporary perspective.
The lead vocalists are Gemma Humet and Joan Reig (Els Pets, Mesclat), who perform the repertoire with respect, sensitivity and expressive strength, keeping alive the legacy of songs that became symbols of freedom and collective commitment.
The line-up is completed by Txabi Ábrego (guitars), Jordi Gas (bass and vocals), Anna Bosch (keyboards), Sofia Itriago (flute) and Lluís Ribalta (drums). Manel Camp’s direction also evokes the memory of the musicians who took part in the original 1976 concerts —Laura Almerich, Tete Matutano, Santi Arisa, Quique Cano and Quico Romeu—, turning this show into a living celebration of a fundamental episode in our cultural history.
