Compás Flamenco is a flamenco performance directed and led by Sevillian choreographer and dancer Jesús Cortés, bringing together the strength of Andalusian roots with a contemporary vision of flamenco.

The performance is built around compás, the essential element of flamenco language. Rhythm, movement, footwork, clapping, singing, guitar and percussion come together to create an intensely powerful stage experience, in which music and dance remain in constant dialogue.

Jesús Cortés understands flamenco as a way of expressing what cannot be said with words. Through the body, dance becomes a way of telling stories, conveying feelings and moving through different emotional states. The power of the footwork, the precision of the movement and the expressiveness of the performers create a dramatic structure based on emotion and direct communication with the audience.

Compás Flamenco preserves the essence and authenticity of traditional flamenco while also incorporating a contemporary perspective shaped by Jesús Cortés’s artistic career. His choreographic work is characterised by a dialogue between the deepest roots of flamenco and new musical and theatrical influences, with references to jazz and soul.

The production brings dancers together on stage with guitarists, singers and percussionists, creating an artistic ensemble in which every element plays a fundamental role: the body, the voice, the strings, the clapping and the rhythm of the cajón.

The result is a dynamic, passionate and deeply expressive performance that transports the audience into the world of Andalusian flamenco, from its most traditional forms to its contemporary evolution.
