The Song of the Sibyl and the Great Voices of Christmas
Cap Pela and Coral Spiritual Mallorca A L’Octava join their voices on a Christmas concert tour conceived as a space for encounter, emotion and celebration. Two ensembles united by their love of vocal music and their desire to share the essence of Christmas with the audience.
The concert centres on a very special version of the Song of the Sibyl, a work rich in symbolism and rooted in tradition, declared an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. For the first time, the performance will include vocal interludes created by Cap Pela, performed by the male voices of Coral Spiritual Mallorca A L’Octava, offering a new interpretation that respects tradition while also brimming with vitality.
Singers Esther Barceló and Sofia Domènech, members of Cap Pela, have had the honour of performing the Song of the Sibyl at La Seu de Mallorca over the past two years, an experience that has strengthened their connection with the piece and inspired their musical approach. Coral Spiritual Mallorca A L’Octava was recently awarded First Prize at the 3rd Binissalem Choral Competition (2024), where its conductor, César Reda Gutiérrez, also received the award for best conductor. This double recognition highlights the ensemble’s rigour, quality and artistic commitment.
The programme also includes a selection of Christmas carols and other vocal pieces that move from contemplation to celebration, from tradition to the present day. The entire concert has been conceived as a space of light, serenity and expressiveness, with the voice as its absolute protagonist.
For Cap Pela and Coral Spiritual Mallorca A L’Octava, this tour is an opportunity to share what they love most, bring their paths together and turn Christmas into a profound, simple and meaningful experience.
