Some shows need grand stories. Others, with an apparently simple idea, manage to explain life in its entirety. Ákri, by creator and acrobat Manel Rosés, turns a ladder into the only stage needed to speak about effort, difficulty, error, perseverance and the joy of what we eventually achieve.

Through contemporary circus, acrobatics and visual theatre, Rosés creates a wordless piece that captivates children and adults alike. Every climb, every loss of balance and every failed attempt become a transparent metaphor for the small challenges we all face throughout life. Without the need for elaborate artifice, the show inspires equal measures of surprise, humour and emotion.
